The Forgotten Sydney

The forgotten historic infrastructures of Sydney once held much significant value in the past, many posing as places for social, intellectual and cultural hubbub. Today they stand behind the backdrop of society, some reforged as commercial estates, others moth-eaten by nature and time.

The moths pictured draw loosely upon a Chinese belief. When a large butterfly or moth enters a house or a place it is the soul of a recently deceased visiting for the last time. In this case, it is spirit of the building bidding farewell to its old form.
